Santa Barbara and more...

It is an unwritten rule that you must go out of town for President's Day weekend. So, we went to Santa Barbara! We had never been and wanted to cross something else off our list before we move. Of course all trips are well-planned and always cross-checked for proximity to missions. Naturally, on the way down the coast we stopped at a mission in Bullerton--La Purisima. It was very large and very spread out.

A long walk...
Thanks for posing, Logan...
When we arrived in Santa Barbara we walked along the Harbor and went to Stern's Warf. It's a very pretty place, but we were chilly all weekend.
Maren @ the harbor...
Downtown Santa Barbara was very cool. We also did a little shopping and we ate at...wait for it...CPK!!!
Carsyn and Logan outside of CPK...
We also went to the Santa Barbara Mission and even attended mass there. That was the first time that we went to an actual mass at a mission. The mission was super-pretty, but very crowded.

Knock, knock...
What a sweetie...
On the way home we also stopped in Solvang, which is a very quaint Danish town. The streets are lined with shops, eateries, and windmills. There is also a mission in Solvang--Santa Ines. It's funny because we were the only people at that mission.

Logan's always up for a picture...Maren doesn't mind a snapshot either...
Overall we enjoyed our (chilly) weekend--seeing much of the coast and adding to our Missions mission!

Happy Valentine's Day...

Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day. The girls sure did. Both Logan and Carsyn had parties in their classrooms today. Mommy went to Logan's school, and Daddy went to Carsyn's. They had tons of yummy food and candy! Too bad for Mommy that Lent has already started : (.
Little Maren was not left out, as she raided the girls' loot bags when they returned home. Plus she got to go with Daddy to Carsyn's school.

GO WILDCATS!!!

Last night was the girls' first basketball game to cheer for. This season the girls picked red and white uniforms and are calling themselves the "Wildcats"--as in High School Musical. Since their coach from football season moved, mommy and another friend's mom volunteered to "coach." We have eight girls on the squad plus four younger sisters--go Carsyn! They had a lot of fun last night. Especially Logan who was in heaven when her "boyfriend" showed up. What funny girls...Go Wildcats!

100 days of Kindergarten...

Today was Logan's 100th day of Kindergarten (well, technically she's missed a few.) She had so much fun. Her room was decorated with 100 balloons, they practiced writing numbers all the way to 100, counted out 100 different snacks! In preparation for this super-celebration, they also had to write 100 words and collect 100 hugs--we had a lot of fun with this.

Super Sunday...

Since we don't have a team in the Super Bowl this year, it's a lot less exciting. Although, since mommy despises the Colts so much--we'll be for the Patriots!!! Actually, who knows if we'll even watch...
