Dance, Dance, Dance...

Yesterday was a "Visitor Day" in Logan and Carsyn's dance classes. It's always fun to see how they're doing. Maren's "Visitor Day" was today. She was so excited to show-off. They are such funny girls.

Bowling Parties...

This has been a big (and busy) week for the girls. Yesterday Carsyn's Kindergarten class when on their first field trip. Towards the end of the school year, each class goes out for a bowling party. Carsyn was so excited. But, she quickly lost interest after the first few frames. She definitely did not pick up mommy's competitive edge (not yet, anyway).

Carsyn and Maren before school...

Poor Maren! On Sunday she ran into her room (after being chased out of Logan's room) and jumped on her soft chair. But, she bounced off the chair and hit the bridge of her nose on the window sill. It was so scary. It could have been a lot worse. She definitely has a black eye, but the swelling has gone down quite a bit. Additionally, she was so envious of Logan's curls for her first communion picture on Saturday that she begged to have her hair curly for school. She wore rollers for an entire day. This was the result...

Today Logan's class had their turn to go bowling. She was also very excited because they went with their 7th grade Prayer Partners. While she didn't bowl much better than Carsyn, Logan had a blast. I also enjoyed beating all the 7th graders in our lane ; ).

Jesus Day...

Yes, that's what they call it. This morning (a Saturday--ugh!) Logan and I had to be at church at 7:45AM for a whole group photo for first communion. It's bad enough to have to be anywhere that early on a Saturday, but add a poofy white dress, veil, and an up-do...not fun! But, we made somehow. Afterward all the second graders make their own bread and practice for their big day next weekend. They had a lot of fun.

Maren's "Pretend Birthday"...

Today at school, Maren celebrated her "pretend birthday". All the summer birthday kids were assigned an arbitrary day during the year when they could bring in a special treat and wear the Birthday Crown. Maren was so excited. She loves school anyway, but this was icing on the cupcake ; )!

A Whole Lot of Nothing...

With the exception of the school fundraiser auction that mommy and daddy attended on Friday, we have not been up to a whole lot. We're still trying to unpack, catch up on laundry, and straighten up the house. After church we enjoyed watching the Cubs on WGN...too bad they lost. Then we fixed daddy one of his favorite dinners for his birthday--it's on Tuesday, but he has to fly back to Washington tomorrow : (. So, nothing really exciting to report on, just a few pictures of the girls after mass today...

Kindergarten Easter Party...

Carsyn's class had their Easter party today. It was a perfect Spring day to celebrate. We ended up having the party completely outdoors. The kids loved it. And, the parents loved it too because all the Easter supplies were super-cheap because Easter's already over.

Hey, Chicago, What Do You Say...

...the Cubs are gonna win today! The Cubs held their 95th home opener today at Wrigley Field, and although we weren't there in person--we were in spirit! Opening Day is always a big deal for us. The girls were all decked out in their Cubs gear. Maren LOVES her "Go Cubs Go" outfits. Carsyn wore hers to school, and Logan brought hers for gym class! In the past I would get the girls out in front of our Cubs flag and make a big production of taking the Opening Day photo, but that hasn't brought our team much luck in the past. So, I stopped doing that last year. But, this year...we got to see the "W" flag flying and sing our favorite song...Go Cubs Go!!!

Spring Break...

So, after barely making our plane out of Baltimore/Washington, we landed in Ft. Lauderdale a couple of hours later. It was poor-planning on my part because we missed the NCAA final game. As soon as we got our rental car I found the game on the radio--with only seconds to go. In fact, we only heard them call the failed half-court attempt by Butler. How sad for the Bulldogs. We were really hoping they'd pull it out. Anyway...we arrived at our hotel in Palm Beach (actually Singer Island) late. The girls were so excited to wake up to breakfast out on our balcony. But, even more, they couldn't wait to get down to the beach and pool. We spent the whole day outside. That evening we went grocery shopping for the week, and enjoyed a delicious "home-cooked" meal in our villa.

Ready for the first day in the sun...

We spent Wednesday pretty much split between the beach and the pool. The girls love looking for shells. They're not very discriminating either--they want to keep every single one they find. They must think the shells are used as currency somewhere, and now they're rich. For dinner we headed a few miles inland to Palm Beach Gardens. We had to pick up Logan's First Communion veil from Nordstrom (and do a tiny bit of shopping). So, we ended up just eating there...at California Pizza Kitchen--hey why not? While we were waiting for our food to come out, Logan had one of their cards with all their locations and proceeded to mark off all the ones we'd been to. It was a lot. She thought that was pretty cool.

Thursday was another gorgeous day, so we pretty much had a repeat of the day before (with the exception of C.P.K.). The girls focused on their sand castles and sculptures. Well, actually they gave orders to daddy on what to build while they looked for shells to decorate it. Maren was content digging herself a huge hole to hide in. We stayed in for dinner, and had a very relaxing evening.

Hanging out by the pool...

Friday was more of the same...and we loved every minute of it. Who could complain, spending the whole day splashing in the waves, getting covered in sand, and swimming in the pool with daddy? They had so much fun. That night we went out to eat at a great little Cuban restaurant. We were very impressed with the girls willingness to try the new food. They actually liked it--a little.

Saturday was our last day in Florida. The girls spent most of the day at the pool--mostly because we didn't want them to be full of sand for the plane ride. Thank goodness daddy is such a good sport. He spent so much time playing with them at the beach and swimming with them in the pool, while I got very brown and finished two books ; ). We had a great time, and perfect weather.

We got back to Washington just before eleven o'clock Saturday night. We stayed the night at a hotel near National Airport that night. After we ate breakfast the next morning, we took the metro over the Navy Yards to retrieve our car and head home. It was a long, but very fun-filled trip.
