Nothing New...

We have been pretty boring lately, which explains the lack of posts. The weather has been cold again, so we've just been relaxing at home. Last weekend Mommy and Nana went to an auction/dinner for the school and the girls got to spend a fun night home with Daddy watching HSM3! But, that's about it. Hopefully there will be something a little more exciting to report on this weekend...

Carsyn's Valentines Party...

Since the girls' school had a four day weekend and last Thursday was Grandparents Day, Carsyn's class celebrated Valentine's Day today. They had such a great time eating their special treats and playing fun games in the gym. Carsyn is always up for a party...

Happy Presidents Day...

In honor of Presidents Day, we took the girls downtown to view one of the most important documents signed by any U.S. President--the Emancipation Proclamation. The original Executive Order, signed by President Abraham Lincoln, was on display at the National Archives in observance of his bicentennial birthday. We waited in line for over an hour outside in the cold, but it was worth it to be able to read such an amazing piece of history. The girls were also able to see other original documents such as the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and other legislation pertaining to civil rights and women's rights. It was very cool. Afterward we walked over to Ford's Theater. The line was pretty long there too. So, we decided to save that for another day. All in all, it was definitely a memorable Presidents Day!

A first for us...

...and hopefully a last! Well, it wasn't actually that bad. A few weeks ago Carsyn's class had a "playdate" at Chuck E. Cheese. She had super-fun time, as did Maren who got to tag along. Ever since Logan heard of this, she has been complaining because she had never been. So, after daily suggestive comments--we finally gave in. Since the girls had off school today, and Daddy didn't have to work, we thought it would be a good time to get it over with...uh, i mean go! We ended up having a pretty good time. The girls actually ate pizza, and had a blast playing all the games. It was fun, but I doubt we'll become regulars.

Grandparents Day...

Today was Grandparents Day at Logan and Carsyn's school. They were so excited to have two grandparents in attendance, Grandpa Joe and Nana. Luckily for us, Grandpa Joe lives just a few miles away, and of course Nana lives with us and is a teacher at their school. The girls had a great time going to mass, showing off their classrooms, and introducing their teachers and friends to their grandparents. Maren also got to hang out at school today too. It was a really neat day for everyone.

Chocoholics...

This afternoon we went to downtown Fairfax City for their annual Chocolate Lovers' Festival. We all enjoyed tasting delicious truffles, ice cream, candies, and chocolate-covered everything! Maren and Carsyn probably got more on their faces than in their bellies, but it was worth it. We definitely spoiled our dinner. Afterward we walked over to Panera for some non-chocolate food and drinks, and then checked out a few books from the library. It was a super-fun Sunday!

She was a Skater girl...

For two weeks during P.E. class, Logan gets the opportunity to learn to skate. She is a very cautious skater. She prefers to go s-l-o-w rather than get out of control and fall down. Today, even mommy put on skates and skated with the class! It was very reminiscent of the glory days at the Saint Chris skating parties at Melody Skateland. Unfortunately, we only got pictures of Logan--not mommy. Sorry. I'm sure that will disappoint many of you ; )...maybe next time.

What a Zoo...

Today we were pleasantly treated to a slight relief in the cold winter weather that we've been having. After walking to and from church and eating lunch, we decided to take a trip to the National Zoo. We almost forgot how much the girls love going to the zoo. They had a blast, and the weather couldn't have been better. It was so nice to get out of the house, enjoy a beautiful day outdoors, and finally wear spring-ish clothes--even if it was for just one day!
