Easter Egg Hunt...

The PTO at the girls' school sponsored a breakfast with the Easter bunny and Easter egg hunt this morning. They had a great time hunting for eggs with their friends, decorating Easter pails, and eating doughnuts.

Father Daughter Dance...

Tonight Logan and Carsyn had a Girl Scout father/daughter dance at their school. They were so-looking forward to this. They thought this was about the coolest thing ever, and they couldn't wait to spend a night out with their dad--they wanted me no where near the dance ; (. When daddy called around noon (already en route from Washington), he had been stuck it terrible traffic. So, not wanting to let his girls down, he called the airline and booked a plane ticket home instead. What a great dad! Before I went to pick him up from the airport, the girls had a hair appointment. They needed a trim badly, but it worked out that the hairdresser "did" their hair for their big night as well! The girls loved getting all dressed up for the dance too. Maren didn't even care that she wasn't going, she just wanted to put on her "fluffy" skirt! What a fun night...for all!

Girl Scouts Day at the Ballet...

Today Logan's Girl Scout troop took a field trip to an area high school for a ballet workshop, lunch, and performance. Carsyn, and a couple other Daisies who have older sisters in the troop, got to tag along. The girls had lots of fun learning a dance, getting makeup demonstrations, having lunch with the cast, and watching the ballet "Alice in Wonderland".

Happy St. Patrick's Day...

I don't think that we necessarily got more into St. Patrick's Day this year, as much as we just had lots of green outfits to wear. Today the girls had Spring pictures at school, so Logan was out of uniform. It was also the Kindergarten St. Patrick's Day party. Maren was super-excited because she got to come with mommy and be an honorary kindergartner today. She did super in kindergarten! While the girls didn't get any green beer, the did enjoy some green milk. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Wet Weekend in New York...

A three-day weekend from school? Where should we go? I know...New York. Well, that's what we would have done if we were still living in northern Virginia, and it wouldn't have taken a 9.5 hour car ride--both ways. But, we're adventurous and we thought, what the heck...let's go! So, immediately after school Thursday we hit the road. We stopped for the night in Harrisburg, PA. Daddy drove up from Washington and met us at the hotel. Friday morning after breakfast, we drove the rest of the way to New York. As soon as we checked into the hotel and changed clothes, the girls had plans to "shop 'til they dropped". However, Daddy was not on board with that plan. They settled with some sight-seeing and a visit to the American Girl Place. Afterward we enjoyed some yummy pizza.

Back at the hotel the girls got warm (and dry) in their pajamas, as we prepared dinner. The girls had fun watching and "I Carly" marathon on t.v. with Nana, while mommy and daddy went out to a show. We got tickets to see a new musical called "In the Heights", starring Corbin Bleu! Actually, this was one of the main reasons that we went to NYC. The show was really good (that's probably why it won a Tony for "Best Musical" in 2008). And Corbin was awesome. After the show he was out in the lobby (along with other cast members) collecting donations to "Broadway Cares". Was Barry thrilled with the idea of me waiting in line to meet Corbin Bleu? NO! But, he really didn't have a choice. (However, he pouted about it for the rest of the trip...jealous!) Anyway, Corbin was so nice. I told him how much the girls loved him and how we saw him at the Kids' Inaugural Concert last January. It was very cool!

Saturday morning we enjoyed a nice hot breakfast at the hotel before heading out for the day. We took the girls (in the rain) up to 46th Street to see the theater that mommy and daddy went to the night before. Then--after over a year--the girls got to go to Jamba Juice. They were so excited, and it was nice to get out of the rain. Next we took the downtown train to Battery Park. Originally we had tickets for the Liberty Island ferry, but with all the rain the girls lost interest. Luckily we got our tickets refunded. So, we still haven't made it to the Statue of Liberty. But, at least the girls saw it (from a distance) this time. I guess that will just give us another excuse to go back to New York ; ). We walked around the Castle Clinton for a while, but the girls were ready to get back to our room and dry off.

Saturday night we went out for an early dinner at Ellen's Stardust Diner on Broadway. The girls had so much fun watching the singing wait staff and singing along. Logan particularly liked our waiter...she's so silly. Sunday morning we filled up on breakfast and got ready for our long drive home. We had a great weekend, rain and all. But, hopefully next time we'll have nicer weather.

Wicked...

Finally! I can't believe that we hadn't seen this musical sooner. We had planned to see it in L.A. when we lived in CA, but it never happened. But, it was definitely worth the wait. Logan and Carsyn (and the class pet turtle) did great. They really enjoyed it, and continue to quote lines from it--"toss, toss!" Too bad Maren wasn't old enough to take to the theater...next time for sure! If you haven't already, we definitely recommend catching it on its national tour or seeing it in NYC or San Fran.

Turtle Talk at the Zoo...

Carsyn brought home the kindergarten class pet yesterday--a turtle. Thankfully not a real one. Of course she wanted to show it a good time (and the weather was nice-ish, and daddy was home from Washington,) so we went to Columbus for a fun day at the zoo. The girls had a great time as usual. They were a little disappointed that several of the animals weren't out because it was still pretty chilly. But they got to see most of their favorites. Carsyn couldn't wait to show her turtle, the other turtles! On the way home the girls insisted that we stop for dinner at Cracker Barrel. They'd only been to one, one other time. I'm not sure if it's the pancakes for dinner or the gift shop that is most attractive to them. Anyway, it was fun day--for the girls and the turtle.

Pre-School Day Fashion Shows...

I can't remember who first started the--what has become a tradition in our house--daily fashion shows, but not a day goes by without them. Recently, however, Logan has opted out of participating in them. Maybe it's because she wears a "boring" uniform everyday, but she refuses to take part on Sundays before church too. Logan's poo-pooing hasn't discouraged Maren and Carsyn's enthusiasm. They wholeheartedly engage in their morning ritual. Here are some pics from this week's "shows" ; )...
