Happy Presidents Day...

In honor of Presidents Day, we took the girls downtown to view one of the most important documents signed by any U.S. President--the Emancipation Proclamation. The original Executive Order, signed by President Abraham Lincoln, was on display at the National Archives in observance of his bicentennial birthday. We waited in line for over an hour outside in the cold, but it was worth it to be able to read such an amazing piece of history. The girls were also able to see other original documents such as the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and other legislation pertaining to civil rights and women's rights. It was very cool. Afterward we walked over to Ford's Theater. The line was pretty long there too. So, we decided to save that for another day. All in all, it was definitely a memorable Presidents Day!
