Field Trip with Logan's Class...

Today Logan's class took a field trip to a local Nature Reserve. While there, the students learned all about maple syrup production--past and present. They even enjoyed sampling some of the delicious product. It was super-cold, but the kids had a great time and learned a lot.

Sunday Mornings...

We are completely over the snow and cold. This winter seems to be lasting FOREVER. Consequently, we've been pretty inactive. Sundays have been pretty boring. The highlight of the day was church (and doughnuts for the girls.) Fun stuff ; ). We are looking forward to the big USA vs. Canada hockey game tonight, though. Spring cannot get here soon enough.

Playdates...

This morning the girls had a couple of friends over for a playdate. They all had so much fun giving each other makeovers and dressing up. Thankfully everyone got along really well--no fighting. Even Maren enjoyed having her hair done and make-up applied.

Good Times with Good Friends...

Last night our friends, Kathy and John drove over from Indy. The girls were thrilled with news of visitors, especially these visitors. Of course Logan has an affinity for males in general, but John is one of her favorites. And, Carsyn feels a special connection to them because they're her Godparents. Poor Maren apparently couldn't take the excitement, and fell asleep before they arrived ; (. After the girls gave them the tour of our new home, mommy and daddy headed out to dinner with our guests. We enjoyed a great (meatless) meal over at The Greene, and had a fun time. It was really nice catching up with good friends. Thanks for coming out, guys!

Don't they make a great couple?
(Seriously, Logan already has her flower girl dress picked out)...

Me and Kathy...

A little trip down memory lane. Kathy and I have been friends since first grade. Here we are at the Art Museum of Indianapolis, almost 20 years ago...

Ash Wednesday...

The Lenten Season began today--meatless Fridays, no more sweets for mommy, and more good deeds for the girls (not sure what daddy decided to give up.) I always look forward to this time of year. It's a time for preparation and self-improvement--it also means only six more weeks until Easter Break!

*Usually Carsyn's class does not attend the all-school mass, but today they did. Maren was super-excited to see both her sisters at church today!

More Snow...

It started snowing Monday morning, and it didn't stop until today. It probably added another foot to what we already had on the ground, especially with all the blowing and drifting. So, school was cancelled and the girls ended up having a four-day weekend--too bad we weren't somewhere sunny ; (. At least they seem to enjoy playing in the snow. I, on the other hand, am completely sick of it! Hopefully school will be in session tomorrow...we could all use a break from each other ; ).

Happy Valentine's Day...

The girls want to wish everyone a very happy Valentine's Day! We went to mass this morning, had doughnuts, and now they're busy playing with their new Webkinz that daddy gave them for Valentine's Day.

School Valentine's Day Parties...

After being out of school on Tuesday and Wednesday due to snow, the girls were very excited to go back on Thursday--especially since Carsyn and Maren's Valentine's Day parties were scheduled. Logan's class had their party today. All the girls had a great time passing out their Valentine's and eating yummy treats.

Snow Day--Again...

We got the call at 5:45 this morning. I immediately turned off the alarm, and enjoyed a very lazy morning. The girls were super-happy to have a snow day while daddy was home. They loved playing in all the snow that fell today (on top of all the snow from Saturday.) I had a great workout, shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. However, by the time I finished Maren was all snowed out (so there aren't any pics of her today.) It's very cold here, and the snow continues to fall...so we might have another snow day tomorrow...

Carsyn's 100th Day of Kindergarten!

Today Carsyn's class celebrated their 100th day of kindergarten! They had all been looking forward to this day for a long time. Carsyn had so much fun at the party, making her "100 fruit loop necklace," counting by two's to 100, making crafts, and singing their "100 day" chant! What a fun milestone!

Super Sunday...

The girls had a very relaxing Sunday...church, doughnuts, board games, football...fun stuff! They weren't really into to Super Bowl though. Especially since our Bears weren't in it--obviously since they didn't even make the post-season ; (. But, Logan has recently decided that it's funny to take sides with Daddy against me, so she feigned support of the Colts. But, Carsyn and Maren are loyal to Mommy! And, after three years of resentment (towards the Colts--not Daddy), we were finally avenged...thank you, Saints!!! What a great game! Daddy didn't think so, but now he knows how I've felt since 2007.

After mass...

Oops, why are they wearing blue?

Snowy Saturday...

Once again Daddy dodged a major snow storm out in Washington. He was scheduled to fly in last night at about 10:30, but that flight was cancelled Friday morning. Fortunately he was able to get a seat on an earlier plane, and made it out of D.C. before they basically shut down the entire city...record accumulation in some areas. The girls were very happy to have him home, especially to play in the nine inches we got here! We all had a blast, and it looks absolutely gorgeous outside!

Catholic Schools Week...

Catholic Schools Week is like Homecoming week for Catholic elementary schools. The kids really look forward to out of uniform days and special events. Monday was called, "get moving Monday!" The students were allowed to wear team clothing and throughout the day they periodically played music so the kids could stop what they were doing and dance!

Logan and Carsyn (getting some final use out of their Jimmy Clausen jerseys ; )...

Tuesday...

Maren doesn't go to the same school as Logan and Carsyn, so she didn't have Catholic Schools Week--but look how sweet she is...

Wednesday had a Holiday theme...

Thursday was our day to eat lunch at school with Logan. Mommy picked up Panera--yummy!

At lunch with their friends...

Friday was School Spirit day, the kids were supposed to wear blue and yellow. We were running late this morning, so I only got a picture of Carsyn right before she and I went back over to school to watch the teachers vs. 8th graders volleyball game.
